"Misery"

Beautifully written, startlingly dramatic, and stylistically unlike anything I've every read, Stephen King's "Misery" was a wonderful novel and fast read. It quickly chased away the summer doldrums. The characters are believable, and it is written to be as realistic as possible which adds to the terror. Paul, the lead character, winds up in the care of a crazy, retired nurse. Little does he know how much "Misery" lies in store for him.
I wouldn't recommend it to many people though, it's a very dramatic and graphic book, but the name "Stephen King" is warning enough of that. In this novel, Stephen King provided a startling suspense story and first class writing class. I learned more about the writing process from this book than most of the online or published articles/books that are specifically designed to teach about writing. A thumbs up to Stephen King for this wonderful novel about a novel and it's novelist. Not only was I scared, but I was taught - the best of both worlds!

Libba Bray does a great job of commentating on America and its people. I definatly recommend this book even if it is a little hard to get through. The ending is worth it. The characters draw you in and you can relate to them.

"The Phantom of the Opera" is a gothic novel written in the early ninteen hundreds as a serial story. It has been made into countless films and plays. The book itself is amazing. It was originally translated from French, so the reading can get tough. The main character is named Christine Daaé. She lives and works at the Paris Opera house. She came to the opera house as a young girl after both of her parents had passed away. Before his death, Christine's father told her of an Angel of Music. This angel was supposed to watch out for Christine after her father was no more.
The Phantom takes up this role, coaching Christine in the ways of opera music. She becomes an amazing soprano. The Phantom's name is Erik, and he was originally one of the builders of the opera house. He wears a mask because his face is horribly disfigured. A hideous love triangle unfolds as the love obsessed Erik tries to take Christine. To make matters worse, Christin's childhood love, Raoul, shows up.
The novel follows the path of Christine and her lovers. It is written in a delightfully gothic fashion with many twists and turns.
I would definatly recomend this book.

I know its a little late in the coming, but Farewell Bobby Pendragon. For those of you out there who have no idea what I'm talking about, here's some info...

Bobby Pendragon is a fictional character created by D. J. MacHale. He is a traveler which means he has the ability to travel between the ten territories of Halla. Halla is basically everything. Each territory (or world) is unique in its own way. One is completely covered in water, another is a desert. One is a future Earth. One is its past. There is a traveler from each one and togethor they fight to stop a traveler gone bad, Saint Dane.
